The Bamboo Room
13 2nd Ave. Haines, Alaska
The Bamboo Room is known for its Halibut and Chips, so I had to try it. The fish comes in battered chunks/nuggets that seriously feature the moist, fresh taste of the halibut. This is modest restaurant in Haines. It serves great fish and chips as their specialty and they are great.
Chicken Creek Cafe
1 Airport Road Chicken, Alaska
The Chicken Gold Camp & Outpost, also known as Chicken RV Park or Chicken Creek Outpost, is just south of the Taylor Highway on Airport Road in the center of Chicken, Alaska. It's built on the site of a placer gold camp established in the 1930s by the industrious Fairbanks Exploration Company for prospecting and mining Chicken Creek with the Pedro Dredge, a bucket line gold dredge that is now a National Historic Site

The Backdoor Cafe first opened in 1994. Since then, it has been a mainstay for locals to convene, share, and make memories over a good cup of coffee and freshly baked goods. We are connected to Old Harbor Books, a book lover's paradise. No wifi here!
The Bamboo Room
After our float trip, we looked for a place for lunch and the places close to the cruise-ship pier were closed, so we wandered further into town. Lucky us, we found the Bamboo Room. The halibut and chips were exactly what we were looking for and when we found out that they had spruce-tip beer (Haines Brewery), we knew we had to try it. The food and the beer were great! The atmosphere was what you hope to find in an Alaskan village and our waitress was very friendly and helpful.
Chicken Creek Cafe
We stopped her on our trip from Dawson City, YT to Delta Junction, AK. I had the cheese burger, my wife had the Lentil soup. Both of us loved our choices. The service was fast and cook was friendly and engaging. There are a couple of other places to eat in Chicken that I haven't tried. However, if I come back through I'll eat here again.
Snow City Cafe
I tried this resutrant fo two days in a row (J31 Jan thru 1 FEB 2024). I ordered the famous salmon benidic and cab cake benidic with hash brown and coffee and it was awasome, very good, and everything it was said to be hands down. the next day I orded the fench toast and deer sausage and a capachino. This is the best breakfast. One thing a lot fail to mention is the customer service. Everyone there is a consumment professional; I could tell by the friendliness and culturre of the work place that the employees liked working there.
The Noisy Goose Cafe
The menu is well organized for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a separate Senior and Children's menu and items. The food is popular American and Alaskan items.
My wife and I had the lunch special on this Friday. A Crab Melt sandwich with a generous portion of crisp French Fries. I had a bottomless cup of fresh hot coffe. They serve clam Chowder only on Friday with two other soup choices. The special was a crab melt sandwich filled with shedding crab in dressing with cheddar cheese on toasted white bread. It came with a generous order of crispy French fries. Everything was hot and fresh. As close to homemade as you can get.
Tommy's Burger Stop
Let me start by saying, whenever I visit Alaska Tommy's Burger Stop is a must stop (yes, the pun is intended).
My go to is the Stella's Bleu Burger. Which I couldn't recommend more for any bleu cheese lover. The provolone bleu cheese mix they use adds a delicious flavor that stands out from any burger I've had before. The signature burger patty has a good flavor and texture and the bun is always fresh. Even though this is my go to, there is a multitude of options for any burger loving person.
Outside the burger, their beer battered onion rings may well be my current favorite out of any place I go. Always cooked to a perfect golden brown, they bring back the taste of childhood.
